Yes, if you make espresso now or plan to: the Opus covers espresso to cold brew with 41 main settings plus fine adjustment. If you only brew drip or pour-over, the Baratza Encore is simpler and has better repair support.
The Fellow Opus has 40 mm conical stainless burrs, 41 settings plus an inner fine-adjustment ring, an anti-static design and a compact footprint. The Baratza Encore has 40 mm conical steel burrs and 40 settings for drip to French press, not espresso, with replacement parts sold by Baratza.

Few grinders at this level can grind fine enough for espresso and coarse enough for cold brew. The Opus does both, with an inner ring for small adjustments when you dial in shots.
The anti-static design reduces grounds clinging to the catch cup, which keeps the counter cleaner. If you never make espresso, you won’t use most of that range.
For drip and pour-over, the Encore is the long-running default: consistent grounds, a simple pulse button and switch, and replacement burrs and parts sold by Baratza.
It doesn’t grind for espresso (that’s the Encore ESP), so choose it only if espresso isn’t in your plans.
Decide whether espresso is in your next year. That single question settles most of this choice.
Yes or maybe: Opus. No: Encore.
Baratza sells parts and publishes repair guides; Fellow sells some parts.
The Opus’s anti-static design reduces clinging grounds.
The Encore’s controls are simpler for daily drip.
Yes. It is designed to grind from espresso to cold brew, with fine adjustment for dialing in.
Opus if you want espresso; Encore for drip and pour-over with better repair support.
Yes, it covers pour-over settings, but if pour-over is all you make, the Encore is simpler.
Even grounds extract evenly, so a burr grinder often improves coffee more than a new brewer.
